Sketching Chamber Orchestra

Sketching Chamber Orchestra for Kontakt 5.6.8 or later

The Sketching Chamber Orchestra features two dozen instruments from the VSCO2 Community Edition in only 1.25 gigs using Kontakt's lossless compression.

The instruments feature Convolution Reverb with 25 presets and 3 twiddly knobs, Full Envelope Control, 3 Band Equalization, Scripted Legato for Strings, Brass & Woodwinds, Faux Round Robins for sustains, optional loud and soft articulations for many sustains, 2 Round Robins for most shorts, cool scripting to show which articulation is in use (that took some work!) along with scripted Modwheel Crossfading and Ensemble patches for many instruments. There are also experimental patches for chords and programmable arpeggios.

Samples created by Versilian Studios Samuel A. Gossner along with Simon Dalzell & Samuel Hébert. Please consider purchasing the Professional Edition. I did and then I bought it.
Please follow the link above for a complete list of musicians and technicians.

Scripting by Matt McKay, Joe Stevens and friends. Special thanks to Evil Dragon.
WIPS scripting was created by Robert D. Villwock.
Modwheel scripting was created by Nils Liberg.
Ensemble scripting was created by Jay Bacal.
WIPS, Modwheel & Ensemble scripting were developed for use by the modding community and made available for non-commercial projects like this one. All rights are reserved to the scripters.

  1. Will this work in Kontakt Player?

    1. Sadly no. Player VIs must be licensed at significant cost and generally must have a minimum price of $99.

    2. Yep, I'm putting NI on my shitlist, as it is plainly obvious they are out to pinch pennies (...or more like wallets considering the prices lol), and there are much better alternatives (free alternatives) to the .nki format anyway.

PS. I'm sure I was not the first(or last) to think Free FULL Version when I saw the ad for Kontakt on their website, lol..

    3. But why does this say you need Kontact Player if it won't run in Kontact Player?

Is there a work around to use the community orchestra?

    4. You need the full version of Kontakt to run it as you do for almost all Kontakt freebies.

You could try this VSTi which is based on the same samples...

  2. Hello! I would like to contribute to your list of free patches. I made a nice, tender-sounding solo horn patch from VSCO2 samples and I would like to share it. How can I contact you?

    1. Sorry I've been mostly offline. Can you just contact me through Google? If you like upload your patch somewhere where I can download it and i'll put it on the mediafire account and on this blog page.

  3. I'm running MacOS 10.8.5 and need an earlier version of VSCO2 that will work with Kontakt 5.5.1 - any chance this is still available somewhere?

    1. Sorry I got hit with an invalid takedown order for all the VSCO2 instruments and they can't be downloaded now. Hence the name change and repackaging.

  4. Love An Orchestra! One thing I can't figure out though: How do I easily and quickly switch from major to minor in the arpeggiator for "Strings Chords & Arps" and
    "Strings Chord Progressions"?

    1. Its been a while since I messed with those, in most of the Arps, the C# in the yellow keys down toward the bottom gives you a minor. You might need to use the little octave down down arrow to see the yellow keys.

The Chord progressions gives you the chords in each scale so the I of C is C Major the ii is D minor, the iii is E minor and such.

  10. Hello! These samples are great, thanks for setting this up!

I had VSCO2 working under Logic 9 on an older mac quite well. I upgraded to Logic X and now can't get it to work. I can load VSCO2 Orchestra.component into Logic but can't see it in the plugins list in individual tracks.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can get any of the versions working under Logic X?

  12. Hi, I'm a newbie to this, could you help me understand how to install conductor and sco please. I'm using ableton live 10 standard and have kontakt incorporated in the NI software supplied with my Komplete s61 mk2. I'm not sure if I meet the requirements or not (!) but superkeen to try this alongside spitfire/bbc orchestras, thanks!

  19. When undergoing a gynecological test patients should feel as little discomfort as is possible, and both types of speculums have this aim in mind. The Disposable Vaginal Speculum in UK however, on the contrary tend to be more flexible and warmer than those made of metal that makes them more attractive to some patients.
